A constitution sets out how we are governed and provides a framework for the decisions that are made about our lives. Prior to the first written constitution in 1959 the Cayman Islands underwent an interesting journey to constitutional democracy which spans from the genesis as an isolated country, dependency on Jamaica, encounters with the West Indies Federation followed by continued constitutional advancements.
